Will Proton Use the Geely Boyue’s Morel Sound System?

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Proton’s upcoming SUV. Very strong opinions exist on both sides of the fence. And now there might just be another reason Malaysians are going to talk about the car to come: the original car by Geely uses a sound system made by an Israeli brand.

This was pointed out to us by the ever-sharp, Malaysian pro “automotive-render-magician” Theophilus Chin.

Sure enough, we looked through our photo archive and found our photo of the door-mounted speaker grille of the Geely Boyue.

As clear as day, “morel”.

Morel have been making speakers and sound-related equipment since they were founded in Isreal in the mid-1970s. They must be really good at what they do to be featured on the Geely Boyue (although, personally, I did NOT get to listen to music during my test drive).

Time and time again, we’ve heard from Proton that very little will be changed from the original Geely Boyue. Could this mean the Morel speakers from the original design will make their way Proton’s first SUV?

What some Malaysians might take issue with is that Morel was founded in Israel. I personally find it trivial to bring this up, but I do know that many Malaysians will find issue with this.

Fingers crossed Proton spotted the hazard and have their Clarion speakers ready. Fingers crossed even harder that Malaysians can look past this sort of thing and add Morel to their list of approved Israeli products (which already includes Waze and Gal Gadot).
