VW Boss stops Arteon & Passat sales due to diesel issues

VW has discovered a flawed software in popular diesel model variants of the all new Arteon and Passat. The 2.0-liter TDI models will no longer be built or delivered. The reason for the recall is an incorrect display of the control lamp for the emission control system. The diesel engine is equipped with an SCR catalytic converter, which injects the Adblue urea solution into the exhaust tract in order to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

VW now has to develop a software update for the frequently installed volume engine. This should not be finished before September 2018. In the meantime, the variant, which is the most popular model on sale in Europe from VW will no longer produced. VW management has also added that vehicles that have already been produced can no longer be delivered to customers or end users.
