NABIL JEFFRI MAKES HISTORICAL DEBUT WITH WEC 2018/19 SUPER SEASON & LE MANS 24 HOURS

Nabil Jeffri, the youngest ever test driver in Formula One history, is set to compete in the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), this May. The 25-year-old makes history as one of the first Malaysians to ever race in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours and WEC Super Season. Supported by Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the team will be competing in the LMP2 class under Le Mans 24 Hours winning team, Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota.

“I’m extremely honoured to be part of Jackie Chan DC in my debut appearance for WEC and race alongside my all-time idol Juan Pablo Montoya. I’m also proud to be in an all-Malaysian team, putting the Jalur Gemilang on the world map. I’m keen to learn as much as I can with Jazeman and Weiron, as they are both very experienced drivers who worked closely together during the previous Asian Le Mans 2017/18 Series. We’re in it to win it, and I’m confident we will make a great team. Certainly we have SIC to thank for this,” said Nabil Jeffri.

Alongside Nabil will be Ex-Formula Renault 3.5 race winner Jazeman Jaafar and Ex-European Formula 3 racer Weiron Tan.

Representing Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota, Nabil and his teammates will be driving in the the ORECA 07 Gibson powered cars — nicknamed #FortuneCat37.  Compared to its predecessor the Oreca O5, the latest ORECA O7 has 620 horsepower (120 more horsepower than the 05) and 20 percent more downforce.

The world-renowned championship sees many varied, high level entries with some notable F1 and ex-F1 drivers like Fernando Alonso, Pastor Maldonado, and Sébastien Buemi also taking part in the superseason.

The 2018/19 WEC Super Season will stretch over 14 months, kicking off on May 5 with the opening race of 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and ending in June 2019 with the pinnacle event — the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is also the first and only season that will feature two editions of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours Le Mans.
