Yes, there is a NEW Honda PCX 150

The popular maxi-scooter from Honda receives an update and it might come to Malaysia very soon. Honda has just launched the new PCX 150 in the US market, priced very closely to the KTM 390 Duke’s pricing….. which means this new PCX 150 is priced close to USD4,000.

The styling of the scooter remains identical to its predecessor, but the panels are curvier and it gets an LED headlight. The apron-mounted, sleek-looking headlight is flanked by twin LED turn indicators that have been neatly integrated into the body. An all-digital LCD instrument console replaces the semi-digital console seen on the previous model.

Honda engineers have reduced the bore by 0.7mm, to 57.3mm, while stroke remains unchanged at 57.9mm and the new motor has a displacement of 149cc, which is a drop of 4cc from the predecessor’s. Despite the minor drop in displacement, the new engine delivers more power at 13.3hp and torque at 14Nm, owing to a larger airbox. Honda has also replaced the underbone tubular frame with a new duplex cradle chassis to add more stability.

The new Honda PCX 150 continues to use a 31mm telescopic front fork, while the twin rear shocks receive new springs, and suspension travel has increased to 84.5mm (78.7mm on the older scooter). It continues to employ 14-inch alloy wheels, but are now wrapped with fatter 100/80 section rubber at the front and 120/70 section tyre at the rear. Anchorage is provided by 220mm single front disc and 130mm rear drum. Another addition is dual-channel ABS which is offered as an option.

The PCX 150 also lighter by 2.8kg thanks to the new frame and lighter wheels. Fuel tank capacity stands at 8 litres, while underseat storage is still generous at 28 litres and can easily accommodate a full-face helmet. No news yet when Boon Siew Honda will bring this revised PCX 150 to Malaysia.

Over the years, the PCX150 has earned a legion of followers through its mix of enjoyable performance and remarkable efficiency. Lighter, more comfortable, and now available with optional ABS, this latest PCX150 will turn heads wherever it goes.
