Recent heavy rains have seen massive flooding in many areas of Klang Valley. Trees have also been falling across roads and sometimes on parked and even moving cars. So far there have been no casualties and this is the good news.
Strong winds and heavy rains may seem like the main culprit of downed trees, however there are actually some causes that aren’t easily noticeable such as root rot and certain tree diseases and not the storms.
For town councils and highway authorities, by keeping up with regular tree maintenance, they can help minimize the damage. Damaged roots and diseases are other risk factors that can lead to toppled trees, if not caught and addressed early enough more trouble can come by of city motorists.
If you think a tree in your area needs attention, contact your town council and get them to look at it as the town council cannot watch and notice trees in distress. They have the right people for this.
