At the launch of the new MT-09, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) also introduced the XMAX scooter which will officially enter the Malaysian market in March.
Design-wise, the XMAX looks like a larger version of the NMAX that was launched here in April 2016. The maxi scooter features an adjustable windshield, LED headlamps and tail lights as well as daytime running lights (DRL).
Weighing 179 kg, the XMAX has a length of 2,185 mm, a width of 775 mm and a height of 1,465 mm. It boasts a seating capacity of 795 mm and a 13 liter fuel tank.
It is powered by a 249 cc single cylinder engine with an output of 20 hp at 7,500 rpm and 24.3 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. Automatic V-belt transmission is tasked to propel the rear wheel.
The suspension system consists of a front telescopic fork and rear twin shock absorbers, while braking power is princludes discs on both sides and ABS. The model is also equipped with Traction Control.
As far as convenience is concerned, the XMAX offers features such as hazard light, electric charging port and smart lock system with keyless and ‘Answer Back’ functions. The storage space under the seat is illuminated and can accommodate up to two full-face helmets.
While HLYM has yet to announce the selling price, the XMAX could be priced between RM20,000 and RM25,000.
