The Mercedes-Benz brand retained its top spot in global luxury-car sales rankings for a second year, although BMW claimed the crown when all its brands are counted together.
Mercedes brand sales rose 9.9% to 2.29 million. BMW’s volume gained a small 4.2% to reach 2.09 million. Audi’s sales edged up just 0.6% to 1.88 million, benefiting from a 34% December surge in China, the brand’s largest market.
