Renault is a manufacturer that’s beginning to gain customer trust in South East Asia. A decade ago, cars like the Fluence were purchased in bulk for fleet operators in Singapore. The Fluence was brought in to Malaysia and those who took a chance with it ended up with a smooth, comfortable, large sedan that continues to serve them reliably to this day.
Today, they’ve got the Captur and Koleos available locally to cater to those who are looking for SUVs. These are pretty great cars, but we doubt there’s a chance anything smaller/more affordable like the KWID will make it through to Malaysian showrooms.
It was really nice to see it available in Indonesia though.
If import taxes weren’t so high, we’re sure they could make the KWID work in Malaysia though. It has a fun, semi-rugged design and a functional interior. Well, at least we have the Captur.
