Toyota’s MPV/SUV Game Was Strong at Gaikindo 2017

Last week at Gaikindo, we saw just how committed Toyota was to providing Indonesia’s population of 300 million with the affordable mobility they were still hungry for. Don’t get too excited about any of these. There’s very little to indicate they’ll come to Malaysia in 2017 (or at all).

First was the C-HR hybrid. It was finished in a striking shade of turqoise.

The Calya is an ultra-affordable 7-seater that’s built on the Bezza platform.

Pretty impressive design and build quality for the low asking price.

But we doubt there’s a business case for the Calya in Malaysia, especially with the Alza and Avanza being as established in the segment as they are.

The Voxy was unveiled at the show. We quite like the approach taken here.

It’s sort of a Toyota Sienta with the design language of the Alphard.

We think Malaysians will really like this one. Hopefully we’ll get it soon.

Decent luggage space and interior materials despite being skewed slightly towards value.

At the Toyota booth, we also saw a facelifted Rush which lacked an externally mounted spare tyre.

Don’t think Malaysians are interested in another version of the Rush though.
