Just one way to explain this all new Mercedes SLC.
It is a fun car to live with in city traffic and even more ‘laughs’ on the open highway if you dare to drop top down with your toll ticket flapping in the wind. Most buyers will never even attempt to drive top down on the open highway, but this is where a sports convertible like this SLC shines. Like any other Mercedes-Benz, this SLC is comfortable and ergonomic for the average sized adult (which I am). In heavy city traffic with the sun beating down it best to have the top up and the air-conditioning keeping you cool. However, at 7-8am on a weekend, the city opens up new possibilities of driving top down and this is where this SLC shines. Its fun, quick and highly noticeable by all road users.
At the moment there is only one competitor for this SLC 200, the Porsche Boxster, which is faster at the 0-100km/h dash, has a better top speed, more power under its hood and delivers a more planted ride and drive, however it comes with a price tag of RM660,000 (that’s a RM260k premium over the SLC). BMW does not offer a new Z4 as yet and Audi does not have the TT drop top in its lineup. Therefore, the SLC 200 looks like a great luxury roadster to have.
If you are planning on taking many early morning or late evening drives up Genting or Frasers and need a stylish car to occasionally get envious stares and looks from the curbside you will not regret the RM398k price tag.
