Will Honda bring the HR-V hybrid (Vezel) to rival the Toyota C-HR?

The C-HR is yet to hit the showrooms in Malaysia but it is already an automotive Internet sensation in Malaysia. The car buying population is buzzing with high interest and all that is is left is its final specifications and selling price to nail its nearest rival, the hot selling Honda HR-V. But we are quite sure Honda Malaysia management already have an option to keep its interest rising up. Be prepared for the Honda Vezel, with a hybrid powertrain.

The Honda HR-V (or “Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle”) slots right under its larger sibling, the Honda CR-V in price and size just as the Toyota C-HR (or “Coupe High Rider”) will use up less room in your car porch over the Toyota Fortuner.

Both compact SUVs started life on small car platforms (the Jazz and Prius) and then Honda and Toyota designers added some rugged styling and higher ground clearance.  Malaysian buyers for both these crossovers are coming from traditional sedan and hatchback drivers who have been taken in by creative marketing of a versatile crossover.

C-HR’s controversial styling is its main puling factor right now and Malaysian car buyers are excited to own one. Toyota in Malaysia has not released any technical specifications, but it is expected to get 1.8-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine+hybrid electric motor mated to eCVT gearbox that was also used in the popular Toyota Prius.

The Honda HR-V (Vezel) will probably run a 1497cc i-VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control + VCT) + electric motor (hybrid) similar to want was used in the Honda Civic hybrid. More will be shared soon.
