Mohd Akid Aziz is all fired up after recently completing training at the VR46 Master Camp owned by 9-times world champion Valentino Rossi.
The young Malaysian was sent to Tavullia, Italy last week with four other talented riders from Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and Canada. Akid demonstrated his worth during the training session when he won the miniGP race that was held at the conclusion of the training camp.
The 18-year-old is now hoping to translate that experience into more race wins that will enhance his career opportunities. But for now, his first priority remains the upcoming Round 4 of the 2017 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship which will be held at Teluk Intan in Perak this weekend.
“Having successfully completed my training under the strict tutelage of the VR46 trainers, I’m excited to put into practice everything that I have learnt during my week-long stint in Italy. I would like to thank Hong Leong Yamaha and VR46 for being so supportive of my efforts,” said Akid.
Akid was the second Malaysian rider to have undergone training at the VR46 Master Camp. The first, in 2016, was Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin who is now straddling the gap between racing in the Malaysian Cub Prix and the Spanish National Championship.
Akid will be looking to extend his CP115 championship lead this weekend at Round 4 of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship which will be held at Teluk Intan, Perak on May 20 and 21, 2017. Spectator entry to the event is free.
