We quite like what we saw with Subaru’s Ascent Concept. It’s a 7-seater, which finally makes full use of Subaru’s large interiors. What’s more, the interior forgoes Subaru’s regular black on silver finish for something a lot more adventurous. Just look at the amount of beige and brown leather they’ve thrown in!
The steering wheel could stand to be a little less glossy, but hey, this is just a concept.
Here we see the three rows of seats in their full glory.
Nice to see that even the 3rd row of seats looks plush and has enough leg room. It would make a bit more sense to have 3 seated in the middle and 2 at the rear but perhaps there’s some Subaru logic to this.
The exterior builds on Subaru’s now standard C-shaped headlights (that are supposed to hint at the boxer engine within). We like how they’ve hidden the headlight and turn signals within the DRL. Very neat and tidy. The hexagonal grille looks a lot larger and swollen here, but still fitting of the Ascent’s size and segment.
The rims are pretty nice too, though some might prefer a less busy design with a more prominent two tone finish.
All-in-all, the Ascent Concept looks like a very promising step in the right direction. Subaru haven’t really confirmed that it’ll go into production, but we sure hope it does.
