Looks like the talks between Chinese car manufacturer Geely and Proton are back on track this month after an earlier walk out. Proton has previously been in talks with Honda of Japan, Suzuki Motor and even the PSA Group from France. But it was Geely that was first to the table with serious intentions and first to do a quick exit.
Now word has been leaked from Proton insiders that talks have resumed with Geely (who own Volvo Cars and are seeing large profits coming back into the bank accounts with Volvo’s current success) and they are going on quite positively.
If Geely were to take over Proton, entry into China would bring much needed sales and Geely’s financial muscle could move Proton into new markets bringing jobs and wealth back into Malaysia instead relying on a shrinking domestic market to keep this car brand alive.
