Why are some nice and desirable cars left to rust in peace?

Cars are sometimes left abandoned at back alleys, side streets in housing areas and at the side of a car workshop, as well as in parking lots at airports, public parks and even condominiums.

The reasons why owners walk away from their vehicles vary, but inability to afford tow truck service or pay bills can be a primary reason. Many town councils have procedures to help get rid of abandoned cars in their parking lots and to try and find/locate the ‘troubled’ or ‘missing in action’ owners.

Once a car is reported as abandoned (usually by residents in the area where the car is left), local town council law enforcement officers usually take several measures to get them removed and stored. The first thing they did is to stick a ‘Amaran’ (warning) notice on the front window giving the car owner 14 days to move or contact the town council to explain the car’s situation.

Then after 14 days has passed the car is towed, carried, carted away by the town council to a storage yard which usually ends up being the final resting place of the car…..the car graveyard.

The sad thing is, some of these abandoned cars are classic cars with some value and some others are actual in quite good condition and yet owners leave them to rot.
