Honda 150SS Racer Concept Brings Neo-Retro to Bangkok

The new CR-V and Civic Hatchback might be the highlights of Honda’s booth at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2017, but if there is one showpiece that could steal the limelight from the new cars, it is the new 150SS Racer.

Similar to the successful Grom or MSX125, the 150SS Racer is a pint-sized two-wheeler that takes the form of a cafe racer. As opposed to the Grom, the styling here incorporates a clever mix of modern and traditional elements. For instance, the round headlight is clearly a nod to the brand’s CB series.

No technical specifications have been given, though the designation clearly points to a 150 cc single-cylinder mill taken from either the Grom or CBR150R. The press release says “the 150SS Racer has been innovated by Honda R&D Thailand Team, under Street Sport Racing concept that is inspired by the chic and contemporary style of Modern Cafe Racer”.

No clear indication whether the bike will make it to production, either. We have a feeling that this one might stay as a concept, so don’t hold your breath.
