Toyota C-HR, which means “Coupe High-Rider” presents a leap forward in design, manufacturing, and engineering for Toyota. So what engine can you expect under the sculptured hood of the C-HR when it is launched in Malaysia?
For this region you can expect a 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid engine for the much needed EEV tax incentives and high local assembly content from UMW Toyota’s pool of parts suppliers to ensure the favorable price of RM120,000.00 or so is met.
There is also a C-HR fitted with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol that develops 114hp and 145Nm of torque, however this will be more for the European market as Malaysians will find it hard to accept a 1.2-liter engine despite it having enough power to climb Genting (which seems to be the destination of choice when picking a car for test drive even if many Malaysians never drive their cars up this hill).
