As the intensity of rivalry among Cub Prix riders heats up, the Race Direction team of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship will be implementing Rider Behaviour Penalties aimed at encouraging sporting on-track behaviour and putting a lid on reckless racing.
The Rider Behaviour Penalties will be administered by a three-man Race Direction team comprising of the Clerk-of-the-Course (CoC), the Safety Officer and the Promoter Representative. Depending on the severity of the offence, Race Direction may impose anything from a single point to a maximum of 10 behaviour points to an errant rider. The points are accumulative and valid for 365 days from the date they were imposed. The points will also apply across the board to all the Cub Prix race categories.
Once a rider accumulates up to four (4) behaviour penalty points, he (or she) will automatically be moved to the back of the grid in the following race finals. If the penalty points accumulate up to seven (7) points, Race Direction will deduct five (5) championship points from the rider. Reaching the maximum ten (10) points will result in automatic disqualification from the following round.
“The introduction of this behaviour penalties system is very timely. The Malaysian Cub Prix Championship has grown in stature and importance as the key talent identifier and development platform for Malaysian motorsports. Riders are consistently pushing the limits of good sportsmanship as they vie to outshine their rivals. Through the Behaviour Penalties, we hope to inculcate clean and disciplined racing,” said Abdul Halim Zahid who is Safety Officer of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship as well as the 1996 Novice Champion.
