TC Euro Cars Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Renault vehicles in Malaysia has managed to prove that Malaysians can travel on electricity power alone. The company has organized a media drive from Klang Valley to Melaka in a fleet of two units of Renault Fluence ZE, a car that runs purely on electricity.
The trip started from the Petronas Solaris Station in Serdang with the batteries at full charge. The convoy then drove at a cruising speed to cover the 116 km journey to Seri Negeri Melaka without having to recharge the batteries along the way.
“The main reason for this challenge is to tackle the number one issue that faces EVs – range anxiety,” explained Reza Mutalib, the General Manager for TC Euro Cars.
“It is a natural concern that people have when considering an EV as a mode of transportation.” “The Electric Adventure proves that range is not a problem with our Renault Fluence ZE. You can still travel to another city without the use of a single drop of fuel and with a single charge,” he said. “The actual cars that we will bring to the market next year will offer even longer driving range and dramatically shorter charging times.”
The event was held with collaboration from the Melaka State Government, Hatten Group and Green Tech Malaysia. “With charging stations along the highways, you can definitely travel further with the Renault ZEs” Reza concluded.
The event will continue with a roadshow at the Hatten Square in Melaka where the public will be able to test drive the Fluence ZE, Megane Renault Sport 265 and also the updated Koleos SUV.
The Renault Fluence ZE is part of the awareness campaign that Renault is doing to educate Malaysians about electric mobility as well as to pave the way for a bigger domestic EV market in the future.
