First launched in 2009, the current generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has not seen many sales in Malaysia due to its high selling price and the popularity of better priced alternatives from Europe. However finally there is a mid-life facelift that might see sales with gray importers.
This new facelifted model has a bolder exterior, a more refined interior, added safety and even sharper handling. Other exterior highlights include new structural elements from its unique design heritage, an evolution of the classic Prado grille and a vertical, two-step construction which additionally undelines vehicle’s rugged appearance. The Prado also benefits from expanded driver guidance and technical support features and the interior of the model adds a comprehensive range of features, new switchgear and instrumentation with enhanced trim and ornamentation, improved second and new interior color schemes. The Land Cruiser’s interior also gets a 4.2-inch TFT screen located in the vehicle’s instrument cluster. All Land Cruiser models will also enjoy easier third-row access afforded by second row seats that fold by 46 degrees, up from last year’s 33.8 degree fold.
This 2014 Toyota Landcruiser Prado will be powered by either a 4.0-litre petrol or a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine offering 202kW/381Nm and 127kW/410Nm respectively. The refreshed Prado will be sold exclusively as a five-door wagon due to customers’ preference for this body style. Driving upgrades include revisions to the standard suspension and also the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System packages, improving stability and ride comfort. Safety is also improved for 2014, with the addition of a Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, along with trailer sway control and emergency brake signal.
