After more than 55 years, do you know the origin of the Ford Mustang name?

There long have been conflicting stories from the people who were there at the time, as well as many who weren’t, about how the name came about. As the car we know today, the Mustang was developed between 1962 and 1963 and a wide range of names were considered and used on the various design proposals, including Cougar, Torino, Allegro, Avventura and even Thunderbird II. But it was ‘Mustang’ that made the final cut and it remains tii today without most of the buyers knowing where the name came from.

Well the name Mustang came from an infamous fighter plane. The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II, the Korean War and other conflicts.
