Subaru is known for its final ‘ready for sale’ showroom vehicles to carry most of the likeness of concepts previewed at Global Motors Shows. This is probably why we bet the next generation XV will not break this convention. (pictured below is the current best selling XV
The single profile shot shows a repeat of the roof-rails, side steps, chunky bumper and wheel-arch plastic trims, and raised ride-height that allowed the original car sell as both a SUV and another a sportswagon.
When it arrives, the new XV will be the second car in the Subaru portfolio to roll on its new Global Platform following the recent Impreza sedan and hatchback.
Subaru’s boxer 4-cylinder engine would seem like an obvious powerplant for the new version, as would its tried-and-tested continuously variable transmission (CVT) auto that has seen brisk sales in Malaysia in the last 4 years.
Like every Subaru model this all new XV will have the AWD transmission for more go-anywhere ability. (yes we know…..the BR-Z which is more a Toyota product does not have the legendary Subaru all wheel drive system)
