Those who ride would be very familiar with the notion that riding very slowly can lead to a tip-over, especially if you’re on a tall bike. However, with Honda’s Riding Assist technology, that will soon be history.
Unveiled at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the technology simply allows the bike to balance itself without the need of a stand.
Instead of incorporating gyroscopes, which Honda says add a great deal of weight and alter the riding experience, the Riding Assist technology makes use of the technology originally developed for the company’s Uni-Cub personal mobility device.
Apart from self-leveling, the bike also has plenty of other tricks up its sleeve. The video above shows its capability to follow a person at a walking pace and to look left and right before exiting through a door.
Honda has not confirmed when Riding Assist will become available but judging by the impressive demonstration, we can say it won’t be too long before the company begins real-world testing of the technology.
