Mitsubishi has previewed the new eK Space and eK Space Custom “super height wagons”, ahead of their public debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show next month. Described as an “enjoyable, spacious and satisfying” concept, the eK Space is Mitsubishi’s second kei car jointly-developed with Nissan. Scheduled to be offered on the Japanese market only, the eK Space sports a box-like design and claims to offer “an increase in cabin volume with interior height that rivals the leaders in its class”.
Cabin features include a rear air circulator that “provides a comfortable interior atmosphere for the rear occupants”, a touch-operated electric sliding rear door, tinted rear windows, touch panel-operated air conditioning, and GPS navigation. Engine details have yet to be revealed, but the eK Space is likely to be fitted with the same 49bhp and 64bhp three-cylinder units powering the eK Wagon and Custom.
