Remember when it was just Tesla (and maybe Faraday Future) representing all-electric luxury mobility? Well, that time has passed. Now, Lucid – a company that has been working on battery tech under the name Atieva – has decided to enter the market as well with the ‘Air’.
The Lucid Air is positioned at the $US100,000 mark (with options), making it a little more premium than Tesla’s Model S. Yes, it is expensive, but take a look at the product they have on offer – it’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
And while the Model S was targetted at the 5-Series/E-Class crowd, this one is clearly aimed at cars like the S-Class and 7-Series.
In terms of performance, the Air will use Samsung SDI’s batteries. Lucid claims that the range of their vehicle will be up to 400 miles (roughly 644km), which is a lot higher than The Model S P100D’s 300 mile range.
Plus, Lucid are also saying that the car will have 1000hp, enabling a sprint time of just 2.5 seconds!
But it’s not built as a sports car. In fact, they’re offering an executive seat package for 1st-class aircraft seating with 55 degrees of tilt. Of course, until we actually see a product, it’s all talk. For now, we’ll just admire the design work that went into this car.
