We were in Los Cabos, Mexico not too long ago to sample the all-new Audi Q5, which has been confirmed to reach the Malaysian market in the third quarter of 2017. The drive was to take place in Los Angeles, but thanks to unforeseen issues regarding permits in the state of California, the whole trip had to be moved to the country where the Q5 is manufactured.
Very much like the United States, pickup trucks seem to be the most popular mode of transportation in Cabo. Well, it is the most sensible choice if you live in the southern end of the Baja California peninsula, the meeting point of the desert and the sea.
Our hotel’s main ride is a Land Rover Defender with a goose painted on its door. ‘El Ganzo’ is Spanish for ‘the goose’.
While the vehicles in LA are more diverse with brands from Japan, Korea and Europe, it was pretty clear that jacked-up trucks and muscle cars rule the area. Household names like the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, and Chevrolet Camaro are everywhere and you can see one at almost every junction. Not to forget, plenty of large SUVs like the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Chevrolet Suburban, too.
