Allianz Malaysia’s road safety programmes in two schools will be aired on RTM 2’s Chiki Boom! in January 2017.
The road safety interactive programme was held on 16 November 2016 at SK Yaacob Latif 2 for 54 students whereas its road safety education programme was held on 17 November at SK Jalan Sungai Besi 1 for 30 students.
Each road safety programme was filmed by Chiki Boom! and will be aired in one of their episodes in January 2017 featuring the topic of road safety.
“Our programmes aim to instil road safety awareness among primary school students. This year we have been focusing a lot on schools, in addition to regular road safety advocacy campaigns held in collaboration with Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) since July 2011. We are thrilled to have Chiki Boom! share our road safety programmes on their show. We try to go to as many schools as possible, and this programme is another great avenue to share our knowledge and our programmes with children throughout the country,” said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good.
Chiki Boom! is a children’s television programme on TV2, RTM that airs every Sunday morning at 10am. Currently in their ninth year, the show talks about various topics each week exploring and expressing the children’s world.
The interactive programme at SK Yaacob Latif 2 emphasised five elements of road safety; understanding basic road safety rules and traffic signage, how to cross roads safely and understanding traffic hazards, understanding traffic light indications, proper wearing of helmets for cyclists and motorcyclists, and getting into the habit of wearing seatbelts.
The education programme at SK Jalan Sungai Besi 1 on the other hand emphasised three main topics, namely; pedestrian safety, vehicle safety and basic road signs. These were taught using various activities such as quizzes, educational videos, giant puzzles and road safety sign games.
At both schools, Allianz Malaysia distributed its in-house designed Road Safety Tips booklets and reflective wristbands with the message “Be Safe, Be Seen” to the students who attended the programme. In addition, the company also distributed the Road Safety Tips Puzzle sets to the schools as a teaching tool for the teachers to facilitate road safety lessons.
“Allianz Malaysia’s road safety programmes were chosen because of the systematic and attractive syllabus. The content not only attracts the attention of children but also entertains the audience of Chiki Boom! Allianz Malaysia’s successful programmes caught our attention and we’re glad to finally be able to be part of their road safety education programmes this week,” said Arnie Arapa, producer of Chiki Boom! 2016.
In 2016, Allianz Malaysia continues its road safety initiatives by organising road safety advocacy campaigns in schools and accident prone areas to create road safety awareness among members of the public.
