The recent EICMA motorcycle show in Milan saw the unveiling of Kawasaki’s smallest adventure bike – the new Versys-X 300.
As you may already know, the aptly-named motorcycle comes as the entry-level model in the Versys family and it is essentially the Ninja 300 packaged in a new body and chassis.
The Versys-X 300 is powered by the same 296 cc parallel-twin engine that churns out 34 hp and according to the Japanese manufacturer, the fuel tank will deliver up to 390 km of range, which is not too far off the range you get with the bigger Versys 650.
The chassis consists of a long-travel suspension with 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a Uni-Trak gas charged monoshock at the rear. 19-inch front wheel shod with 100/90-section tyre and 17-inch rear wheel wrapped in 130/80-section tyre help keep the bike steady on unpaved roads.
Making your life a little easier is the addition of the Assist & Slipper clutch, as well as the ABS. The Versys-X 300 also gets a large analogue tachometer and an LCD panel that displays the digital speedometer, clock, gear position, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, average and instant fuel efficiency as well as eco indicator.
The Versys-X 300 will be offered with two optional packages – ‘Urban’ adds a tank pad, centrestand, hand guards, and a 30-litre topbox while ‘Adventure’ adds a tank pad, a tubular engine guard, centrestand and a pair of 17-litre side panniers.
