The tournament, to raise funds for the Tan Sri Alex Lee Athlete’s Education Fund, is aimed at raising funds in aid of national athletes’ education, in memory of the late Tan Sri Alex Lee, for his contribution to the nation and sports.
“It is a great honour to be part of this great cause and I am especially pleased to see the athletes get the due attention from the Malaysian public in recognition of all their effort representing the country. My late father would have been especially proud to see so many people coming together to raise funds for this worthy cause,” said AIG Malaysia CEO Antony Lee, who is also a member of the event’s organizing committee.
Present at the event was OCM President Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Ja’afar and AIG Malaysia Director Datuk Thomas Lee and Puan Seri Irene Lee, the wife of the late Tan Sri Alex Lee. AIG has participated in the charity golf tournament since its inception 14 years ago. So far, some 44 present and former national athletes have been awarded scholarships from the Education Fund. This year, 4 additional athletes were given scholarships.
