0Datsun Go+ Coming To ASEAN
The Datsun Go+ will become one of the world’s cheapest people-movers when it launches in emerging markets in 2014. This low cost 7-seater car will sell side by side with the Nissan Livina and offer similar features, quality, build and space. This second all-new model from Nissan Motor Company’s born-again budget brand, the Indonesian-built Datsun Go+ will cost less than 100 million rupiah (US$9300) in its home market, where it is set to become the most affordable vehicle with three rows of seats. Like the previously unveiled Datsun Go hatchback, the Go+ will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and utilise a five-speed manual transmission to power its front wheels.
A mobile docking station facilitates smartphone integration, aiming to appeal to the brand’s youthful target market, while second and third seating rows that fold completely flat create a versatile load space in the rear. Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn says the Datsun Go+ has been specifically tailored for the needs of Indonesian customers. “It’s exciting to know that, for many Indonesians, the first new car they buy will be a Datsun,” Ghosn said. “With the return of the Datsun brand, we are changing mobility. And we’re ensuring greater access to the pride, independence and opportunities that car ownership provides.”
