Is This The Nose Of The 2017 Audi RS5?

Just like the next generation R8 and the current Porsche Panamera, engine downsizing is hitting the performance segment in a big way and the 2017 Audi RS5 is not being spared The previous naturally aspirated V-8 is being removed (picture here below) in favor of a twin-turbocharged V-6 for the new RS5.

Despite the 2-cylinder reduced count, the 2017 RS5 engine will be more powerful and provide more drive entertainment with higher power and torque. The new powertrain marks the end of naturally aspirated engines from Audi, with the exception of the 5.2-liter V-10 in the R8.

The last RS5 was fitted with a lovely sounding high-revving V-8, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It produced 450 horsepower. The new, 90-degree, 24-valve, 3.0-liter V6, code-named EA839 will deliver its maximum power, which is estimated to be over 450horsepower delivered at lower engine revs than the previous engine. Fitted with direct fuel injection and variable intake valve lift, the aluminum block, head and engine will be far more efficient than its predecessor. This new RS5 will compete with the BMW M4 and the Mercedes C3 AMG.
