It has been a rewarding weekend for Lamborghini Squadra Corse, which has scored 3 absolute victories in 48 hours with the Huracán GT3 in Italy and in Japan. Another source of pride for the Motorsport department of the manufacturer of Sant’Agata Bolognese is to see on the highest steps of the podium their young drivers of the GT3 Junior Program, a further proof of the importance of the program.
Double victory in the Italian GT Championship
We start from Italy, Mugello Circuit, with the fourth round of the Italian GT Championship. In Race 1, held on Saturday July 16, came the first victory of the season for the team Antonelli Motorsport, with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 driven by the GT3 Junior Drivers Riccardo Agostini and Alberto Di Folco. After starting from the fifth place on the grid, the two young talents managed to grab a deserved victory, thanks to a steady race pace and an impeccable conduct. Behind the winning pair, with just a few tenths gap, there is another Huracán GT3: that of the team Ombra Racing, which started from the eighth position and arrived second with the GT3 Junior Driver Alex Frassineti and his teammate Stefano Gattuso, who were always in the wake of the Lamborghini of the team Antonelli in the final stages of the race.
Race 2, which took place on Sunday July 17, saw the victory of the team Imperiale Racing, with the Huracán # 16, with the Factory Driver Mirko Bortolotti and the GT3 Junior Driver Jeroen Mul behind the wheel. After starting from the pole position, thanks to the excellent qualifying times obtained by Bortolotti (track record among the GT3 cars with 1’46”695), the Huracán GT3 waited for the opportune moment to overtake the Ferrari 488 of the Team Black Bull Swiss, which had meanwhile reached the first position, and during the second part of the race it only had to manage the advantage and cross the finish line in first position.
First victory in the GT Asia Series
On the other side of the Ocean, at the Fuji Speedway in Japan, another Lamborghini Huracán GT3 finished ahead of everyone. The car of the team FFF Racing, driven by the two GT3 Junior Drivers of Lamborghini Squadra Corse Andrea Amici and Edoardo Liberati, has been dominating the races for the entire weekend during the fourth round of the GT Asia Series. Over the weekend, the two Italian young drivers have scored a pole position, a second place in Race 1 and the first victory of the season in Race 2: these results vault Amici and Liberati to the top of the standings of the Asian Championship.
