It was a tough and highly contested battle but in the end Clearwater Racing with W.S Mok, H. Hamaguchi and Craig Baird in a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 managed to overcome 12 hours of endurance racing and a host of competitions to claim the coveted chequered flag at MMER 2013.
The team delivered a decisive performance as they were rarely challenged towards the closing hours of the race. It was a victory to savour for the team as they retired at last year’s MMER after leading for the majority of the race.
Roger Lago Racing with Roger Lago, David Russell and Peter Kox at the wheel of a Lamborghini LP560-4 claimed the second spot of the grid. The Aussie outfit missed out of competing last year’s race after an accident in Australia put them out of competing in MMER 2013.
Rounding up the final spot on the podium was AF Corse with drivers Pasin Lathouras, Mika Salo and Michele Rugolo behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. The team was challenged by another Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 powered team – Naza Nexus Racing with drivers Adrian D’Silva, Earl Bamber and Alif Hamdan in the final hour of the race.
AF Corse managed to take the lead in the final 15 minutes of the race and defended their position all the way to the chequered flag to finish third. Naza Nexus Racing eventually finished fourth with LKM Racing with drivers Darryl O’Young, Vuthikorn Intharaphuvasak and Siu Yuk in a Porsche GT3 in fifth position.
