The Nismo Racing team has caught the eye of many teams at Sepang during practice and we’re pretty sure that the brand new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 has something to do with it. Nismo’s participation at MMER 2013 will see the team embark on their Nismo Driver Exchange Program with Nismo Athletes and GT Academy Winners, Mark Shulzhitskiy and Wolfgang Reip in the driver’s seat alongside Japanese race driver Katsumasa Chiyo.
Sepang will undoubtedly be a stern testing ground for both Nismo Athletes but they’ve certainly shown they are up for the task during the Nismo press conference earlier today. “There are a lot of good teams here,” admitted Shulzhitskiy. But the Russian driver maintains that Nismo is banking on finishing the race first but anyone really stood an equal chance of winning. “Due to the conditions at Sepang as well as the duration of the race, any team can be victorious. So yes, maybe we too have a good chance as well,” he added.
Belgium driver Reip however is concerned about the midnight start as it may prove to be one of the most challenging obstacles at MMER 2013. “Racing at night is challenging both mentally and physically for the drivers especially here as it continues through the night until morning,” he revealed. “But at least racing at night is good for the car! Nevertheless though I think we as a team are up for this challenge.”
