After revealing last month that they’d purchased the two race winning Aston Martin Vantage GT3s of Craft Bamboo Racing, experienced Australian motorsport campaigner Andrew Miedecke has now released further details about his plan to join the popular GT Asia Series, with every likelihood that the 2015 title winning Aston may return ‘home’.
Whilst unveiling his 2016 program, Miedecke also revealed the name of the crew that would pilot the team’s first car – which has already left it’s Queensland base in Australia – as well as details of a new arrangement with Aston Martin Racing in the UK to become a partner in the Asian region for the successful British marque.
Miedecke made his intentions known very early after purchasing the two Craft-Bamboo cars that his focus was a return to Asia, and that has resulted in the signing of the team’s first crew to join the GT Asia Series from the third event in early July in Japan.
With three race winning Aston’s in the stable, the newly formed Miedecke Stone Motorsport operation are well placed to make a big impact in GT Asia, and with two of Australia’s brightest young stars campaigning their first entry, you can be sure the Series regulars will be made well aware of this emerging new force from Australia.
The opening event for the new operation will take place at Japan’s Okayama International Circuit on the first weekend in July, with the iconic Fuji Speedway playing host to the fourth event of the 2016 season just two weeks later.
