This is the Ferrari 458 Speciale. This is the hardcore version of the Ferrari 458 Italia that everyone was waiting for. Although the “standard” 458 Italia was the perfect car in our opinion, the Ferrari 458 Speciale promises to take things further and comes with a tuned version of the 4.5-liter V8 engine that now delivers 605hp @ 9,000 rpm and 540Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The 4.5-liter V8 delivers 135hp/liter. For those who don’t know, the 458 Italia delivers 570hp and 540Nm of torque. Thanks to an exceptional weight/power ration of just 2.13 kg/hp (dry weight is 1290 kg), the Ferrari 458 Speciale zooms from 0 to 100km/h in just 3 seconds, to 200km/h in 9.1 seconds and has a lap time of just 1’23”5 on the Fiorano circuit.
Developed in collaboration with Pinifarina, the Ferrari 458 Speciale features front and rear movable aerodynamics, which balance downforce and cut drag. The 458 Speciale is the most aerodynamically efficient range production car in Ferrari history (E index of 1.5). One of the most innovative system on the 458 Speciale is to Side Slip angle Control or SSC, which makes it easier to achieve car control on the limit.
The car uses Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which were specifically honed for it in an intensive collaboration programme involving, amongst other factors, numerous track test and simulator sessions. 458 Speciale has the fastest response time (0.060 s) and highest lateral acceleration (1.33 g) ever achieved by a car in the Prancing Horse range. The Ferrari 458 Speciale will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September.
