Tesla Model S Gets Facelifted

Tesla has finally unveiled the facelifted version of its Model S, bringing some much awaited changes.
The first – and most obvious change comes to the way it looks. The exterior now bares a striking resemblance to the Model X and recently released Model 3. With barely anything resembling a traditional grille on the front end, the Model S finally looks like the car of the future that it really is.

It was fairly obvious that Tesla had to keep things conventional in the beginning, but now that they’ve established themselves successfully, they can market cars that look nothing like their contemporaries, and this facelift is definitely a step in that direction.

There are also new headlights that feature more than a dozen LED turning lights.

The interior changes are a little less drastic. In terms of kit, heated and ventilated front seats are now optional with the HEPA air filter we saw on the Model X. This also brings with it the ‘Bioweapon Defence Mode’ – great for those in major cities where air pollution is a concern. There are also two new wood trims available: Figured Ash Wood and Dark Ash Wood.

There are no changes in terms of the size of the battery, but it now has a 48 amp charger (the 2016 model had a 40 amp charger instead) which should speed up the charging process. These additions come at a US$300 price increase when comparing starting prices – but of course very few customers who go for the Model S opt for a bare bones car.
