With the Civic so recently launched in Thailand, it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing them on local roads. We can only hope that these images of a potential hatchback variant are as close to reality as the sedan is.
While a Civic Hatchback Prototype was shown at the recent Geneva International Motor Show, this patent looks more like a finished product. It’s simpler, but by Civic standards still a busy design. The ‘C-shaped’ brake lights make an appearance here just as they do on the sedan variant, but it seems to work better here. There’s also a sense of symmetry as seen on the front and rear bumpers, which both feature what looks to be dark plastic inserts.
As a reminder, the 1.5-litre turbocharged motor that goes into upper tier Thai-market Civics produces 172 PS and 220Nm of torque.
