Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has introduced ‘Flying Aces’, the ultimate record-breaking roller coaster. The bi-plane themed attraction is a reference to the history of Ferrari’s Prancing Horse emblem, which was originally emblazoned on the plane of the celebrated Italian WWI fighter pilot Francesco Barracca. The new ride, with the world’s tallest loop at 52 meters and steepest and fastest cable lift incline at 51 degrees provides an adrenaline-fueled experience.
‘Flying Aces’ was unveiled on February 24th at an exclusive launch. Just over 100 local dignitaries and special guests witnessed a live action-packed show as a Ferrari California T, piloted by Scuderia Ferrari test-driver Jean-Eric Vergne took to the road and went head-to-head against a XIII SPAD bi-plane along Yas Island Leisure Drive. The celebration then moved to the sky where the plane’s impressive aerobatic skills were showcased.
The bi-plane themed roller coaster is the ultimate test of courage with an exhilarating 135 second journey that reaches a speed of 120 km/h along a 1.5 km track. The ride mimics extreme gravity-defying flight acrobatics (including a non-inverted loop), rapid twists and turns.
The launch of Flying Aces kick-starts an interesting year for Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, as it prepares to reveal a series of new rides and attractions.
