Over the weekend, PETRONAS held yet another Dynamic Xperience event with two others held previously in December and January in East Malaysia. The Dynamic Xperience takes 4X4 enthusiasts across the country and off road with vehicles powered by the new PETRONAS Dynamic Diesel.
The journey began in Bandar Sri Damansara, but by noon participants had their trucks muddied at the off-road segment near the Jerangkang Waterfalls in Maran, Pahang.
Through the Dynamic Xperience, pick-up truck users got to see and feel the difference that PETRONAS promises with this new fuel that has been developed for the global market.
The key attributes of Dynamic Diesel are that it cleans engines better, restores engines to peak performance, and aids in better combustion. Using additives that can be found in the company’s upcoming Euro 5 Diesel, Dynamic Diesel is formulated to prevent injector deposits from building up. The result is that an engine regains its full potential through cleaning by the time a single tank of Dynamic Diesel is used.
The proof of that is that it recorded the best power restoration among Malaysian diesel fuels when tested in a European laboratory on an engine dynamometer. PETRONAS admits that the new fuel is aimed more at increased fuel efficiency than power output, but has taken lessons learnt from their experiences from motorsport in developing the new diesel. They did this through their sponsorship of Iveco De Rooy team, who took home a recent win at the 2016 Dakar Rally.
Participants of the Dynamic Xperience felt it as well, with many vocal about how impressed they were with the fuel and would be returning to PETRONAS. An understandable position, seeing as Dynamic Diesel is now available at nearly every PETRONAS station nationwide.
Also at the event was the all-new Navara NP300. Several units of Nissan’s latest and greatest pick-up were supplied by Edaran Tan Chong Motors in order for us to experience its abilities as a highway cruiser and off-roader. What we found was that the use of coil springs on a pick-up was definitely an upgrade in terms of NVH and ride comfort. Passengers were found fast asleep even as drivers took it to through the bends of the Karak highway. Overall, the Navara is undeniably the most comfortable, sedan-like pickup truck on sale in the country, but still struggles to keep up with the Ranger Wildtrak’s exceptional technology, cabin finish, safety features, road holding, power and design.
