Bridgestone Donates to Old Folks Home This CNY

Bridgestone Tyre Sales (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd brought a festive atmosphere to the community ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year season. Together with management and staff, Bridgestone Malaysia recently organised a visit to Rumah Bakti Ci Hang Old Folks Home at Kampung Baru Subang. During this visit, Bridgestone Malaysia presented a cheque of RM 5,000 to the home.

The home is under the care of Persatuan Kebajikan Ci Hang Chempaka, Selangor, and provides rehabilitation for single and a few physically challenged senior citizens. There are currently 31 senior residents between the ages of 55 and 90 years old under the centre’s care.

On top of the donation, senior residents of the home were also delighted with festive ang pows (Chinese red packets), sumptuous savouries such as Chinese sausage, dried meat, mushroom and waxed meat, as well as daily sundry and other consumables goods.

The donation was part of the contributions collected from Bridgestone’s “Tee for Charity” fundraising golf event. Held in late 2015, the event was attended by dealers and business partners. Rumah Bakti Ci Hang was one of the 3 beneficiaries from this fundraising event.

Bridgestone Malaysia believes in supporting the community and endeavours to be a socially responsible corporate citizen through various CSR activities. One such initiative was the company’s recent participation as one of the event sponsors of “Relay for Life Kuala Lumpur” (RFL KL) 2015. A total of RM 3,542 was raised from booth activities during the RFL KL event and the sale of RFL KL T-shirts in the Bridgestone’s “Tee for Charity” golf event.

All proceeds were donated to The National Cancer Society (NCSM) on 12 Jan 2016. In line with Bridgestone Group’s CSR policy to engage in diverse social activities beyond the themes of “Safety” and “Environment”, Bridgestone Malaysia will continue to collaborate with its stakeholders to realise a better society.
