Google has revealed the 10 most searched cars in the United States as part of the company’s annual “Year in Search” report. Most of the cars are American made cars and for the American market and China market only which means we will never see them here in South East Asia. However, there are a few on sale here and would be of interest to Malaysians.
Starting with number ten, the Hyundai Tucson garnered a lot of attention thanks to its recent redesign. The Lexus NX came in ninth place and has proved popular with consumers as the company has said they can’t build them fast enough to satisfy demand. The eighth spot goes to the Chevrolet Colorado which has shaken up the mid-size truck market.
Interestingly, the seventh and sixth place winners have a lot in common as they are both based on the same platform. If you haven’t guessed it by now, we’re talking about the Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X.
Consumer interest in compact crossovers also helped to push the Honda HR-V into the fifth spot. It debuted late last year with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 138hp and 172Nm of torque.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was one of two cars on the list and its recent redesign had fans clamoring for information. It can be equipped with three different engines including a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6, and a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 455hp and 616Nm of torque.
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma came in third and it goes head-to-head with the eighth place Chevrolet Colorado. An even bigger truck came in second place and it’s the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The first place finisher comes as a bit of a surprise but it turns out a lot of people are really excited about the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.
