When Kia decided to build a two-door coupe, they did not hold anything back with the Forte Koup. The 2011 Forte Koup brings the shape and design cues of the groundbreaking Koup concept to life in Malaysia’snewest and most exciting compact sport coupe. With a low wedge-like profile and bold styling, it turns heads faster than any law should allow. You’ll find the Forte Koup is packed with performance, comfort and convenience features that you probably thought you’d have to pay extra for. Designed at Kia’s design center in Irvine, California, the Forte Koup is a slick spin off of the just-launched super successful Forte sedan, with creased edges and flatsurfaces for a lean, purposeful look. Lower, shorter and narrower than the sedan, the only sheet metal shared with its four-door sibling is the front hoodpanel.
The Koup is available with the same powerplants found in the sedan, but we reckon only the 2-liter version 156bhp version will be sold here thru Naza Kia. Just browse thru the brochure pasted below and you will see that Naza Kia has decided to sell the car with all the bells and whistles which makes its value hard to ignore against the competition. The Koup will come standard with plenty of safety features, including antilockbrakes, electronic-brake-force distribution, brake assist, stability control andfront and side airbags. Interior amenities include Bluetooth connectivity, steering-wheel-mounted stereo controls and a six-speaker stereo with USB and auxiliary input jacks. The stereo also features full iPod and MP3 control. Other standard items include power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows and 60/40 folding rear seats. In other words, the Koup is a very complete package. The Koup’s front MacPherson strut and rear torsion-beam suspension setup uses a thicker sway bar, tighter steering ratio and stiffer shocks than the sedan, while the SX version gets slightly more aggressive tuning. The Koup also uses a slightly more baritone exhaust note and checks in with a curb weight that’s roughly 44 pounds lighter than the sedan. Pricing hasn’t been officially announced yet, but expect the Forte Koup to run roughly from RM115,000.00 or so. Wait for the announcement from Naza Kia.
