Ford today announced an impressive finish to 2010 with December sales in Malaysia that rose 192 percent, or nearly triple, from the same month a year ago to 503 units. The strong December sales represented Ford’s best monthly performance in five years, helping drive Ford’s full-year sales in Malaysia up 60 percent from the prior year to 2,930 units. Driving the outstanding growth was the successful launch of the all-new Ford Fiesta, which accounted for sales of 491 units since its October launch.
“Last year was great year for Ford in Malaysia. We successfully launched a number of key new models, including the award winning Ford Fiesta, which has been embraced by Malaysian consumers for its exceptional kinetic design, performance and superior fuel efficiency,” said David Westerman, Regional Manager, Asia Pacific, Ford Export and Growth Operations. Other key factors behind Ford’s achievements in 2010 were decisions to strengthen and expand its dealer network throughout the country, as well as introduce an Extended Service Plan (ESP) which enables all customers of Ford passenger cars to receive free scheduled maintenance for the first three years of ownership and within the first 60,000 kilometers of usage.
“Our dedicated and focused network of nationwide dealers has been a critical component of our success in 2010.They are absolutely committed to driving our business forward, and having fun doing it,” said Mr Simon Rock, Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd Managing Director for Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.
“We expect to build on our achievements and progress in 2011 by continuing to provide the highest level of service to our customers and unveiling further initiatives, such as our industry-leading three year free maintenance program to give added peace of mind to Ford customers nationwide,” added Simon.
