The winners of the opening round of the inaugural season of the TCR Asia Series will be reunited for the final event of the season, when Macau’s own Rodolfo Avila will rejoin the Asia Racing Team [ART] for his home event on the challenging 6.12-kilometre Guia Circuit. Macau ‘veteran’ Avila will be joined by Hong Kong’s Sam Lok in the second of the Teams’ Championship leading ART Seat Leóns, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Audi R8 LMS Cup regular is looking forward to his maiden challenge in TCR. For Avila, he has established himself as one of Macau’s most successful drivers over a career that spans 15 years, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia regular is looking forward to the opportunity to compete again in front of his home fans.
Coming off the back of their fourth win of the season in Thailand with local driver Tin Sritrai, ART will be looking to cement their position at the top of the TCR Asia Series Teams table, to add to Avila’s single win at Sepang (in his only start in TCR Asia), team-principal Philippe Descombes’ double victories in Malaysia and Sritrai’s victory at Buriram. Currently they lead the Teams Championship on 210 points, from rivals Prince Racing (152) and Roadstar Racing (147) with two races remaining.
The TCR Asia Series competitors will be on circuit for opening practice on Thursday morning (19 November) at 11:25am for the first of two 30-minute practice sessions, followed by qualifying early on Saturday morning (7:30am), with the two 10-lap races getting underway on Sunday 22 November at 10:00am CST.
