Ford today announced October retail sales in Malaysia that jumped 30 percent from the previous month to 1,095 units. The exceptional month was Ford’s best since March, and was driven by strong nationwide demand for the new Ranger – Malaysia’s most capable, powerful, and smartest pickup. The segment-defining Ranger pickup continued as Ford’s best-selling nameplate with October retail sales soaring 48 percent over to the previous month to 956 units. Year-to-date Ranger sales have now risen 14 percent to 7,770 units, thanks to strong demand across the lineup, from the rugged XL to the range-topping Wildtrak.
As well as being Malaysia’s most powerful pickup, the new Ranger sets a new benchmark in the segment with an unmatched blend of capability – including best-in-class payload and water-wading – and advanced technology. Ranger’s safety package is also unmatched, with a range of active and passive safety features that include up to six airbags – three times more than any other pickup in Malaysia – and driver assistance technologies like Lane Keeping Aid and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child safety mounts also come standard, making Ranger the only pickup truck in Malaysia to offer these two important safety features across all variants. All variants also feature driver and front passenger seatbelt reminders.
The new Ranger’s safety leadership was yesterday recognized by the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP), which awarded a maximum 5-star safety rating, with a total Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 15.45/16 points – the highest of any pickup on sale in Malaysia.
Ford expects the new Ranger – launched on October 9 – to continue to drive sales momentum through the end of the year.
During October, nearly 1000 consumers experienced all the capabilities of the Ranger for themselves at a series of ‘Tough Done Smarter Experiential Test Drives’ held in the Klang Valley. Ford is continuing the series from 12 – 15 November at the NST – MAI ASEAN Auto Show at MIECC (Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre). Each visitor will be paired with a professional driver, who will lead them through an exciting course that showcases the Ranger’s advanced technologies by simulating tough driving environments, like wading through water and navigating steep terrain.
