Title win in Mercedes-Benz home fixture at Hockenheim: Pascal Wehrlein (gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG) secured the drivers’ title in the DTM with P8 in the first race on Saturday. The young 20-year-old has become the youngest DTM champion one day before his 21st birthday on Sunday. Wehrlein is the fifth driver to win the DTM drivers’ title with Mercedes-Benz and follows in the footsteps of Klaus Ludwig (1992, 1994), Bernd Schneider (1995, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006), Gary Paffett (2005) and Paul Di Resta (2010).
With one race to go before the end of the season, gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG are in first place in the team standings with 225 points in all and a 27-point lead. 2010 DTM champion Paul Di Resta ended the first race at Hockenheim in P4. Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) completed the Top Ten in tenth position.
Christian Vietoris (Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Daniel Juncadella (PETRONAS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) finished the race in P12 and P13 respectively. Lucas Auer (BWT Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) crossed the line in P17. Robert Wickens (SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Gary Paffett (EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) retired after two separate collisions.
