Lotus wants to do something to commemorate its most popular models, the Exige and the Elise before its production run come to an end. Both these cars are set to end production this July 2011. It decided that final Special Editions for the Exige and Elise models that use Toyota’s 2ZZ-GE engines will be released. Lotus will offer the chance for these cars to be painted in matte black for 25 of its customers. Lotus will allow customers to pick from four color schemes that are based on Elise Club Racer. To shave off some pounds, the Exige S260 features lightweight materials like carbon fiber and has been fitted with bespoke lightweight forged alloy wheels.
The Exige S260 will be powered by a 1.8 liter VVTL-i supercharged engine that delivers 260 hp. Meanwhile, the Lotus Elise SC is powered by a 1.8 liter VVTL-i engine that can deliver 220 hp. These two limited edition models will make use of Lotus’s direct steering and their race track-focused suspension settings to provide.
