In a new promotional video from Mercedes-AMG, two of their engineers talk about their 4.0-litre twin-tubocharged M178. This is the engine that goes into the AMG GT, the fastest, meanest production vehicle the company makes. It also goes into the C63 – overkill much?
The two engineers go through some of the engine’s highlights, including the placement of the turbo charger between the cylinder banks and the dry sump lubrication system. There’s also the testing procedure in the ‘Finding Room’, where each component is stripped off to check for wear.
