Chevrolet Cruzes dominated the 2011 FIA WTCC Round in Monza, taking a double 1-2 win at the legendary Italian circuit. Claiming victories for Chevrolet on both races was Rob Huff, who also goes down in the history of WTCC as the third driver to achieve back to back wins on a single weekend.
The double win extends his lead in the Drivers’ provisional standings, where he precedes team mates Yvan Muller, second in both races, and Alain Menu, who had a mixed weekend due to contact in Race 1 and fought back to a brilliant 5th position in Race 2 from starting at the back of the grid.
The results in Monza show the level of competitiveness achieved by the Cruze 1.6 turbo which allowed Chevrolet to be a solid leader in the Manufacturers’ standings, a testament to the prowess of the Cruze.
The WTCC racing Cruzes are based on the award winning road-going production model, known for the monocoque chassis that is built using the Body Frame Integral technique that gives it the stiffness, stability and safety that it enjoys.
